ReActive ® Perforating Presented at American Association of Drilling Engineers' National Technical Conference
New Orleans, 31 March 2009
Taking advantage of an invitation to present to an audience of drilling engineers, managers and students, GEODynamics presented a paper entitled "Reactive Perforating - Putting the Exclamation Point on a Great Well" at the AADE's annual technical conference. The paper highlighted how perforation plays a crucial
role in delivering the functional objectives of a well but is often neglected during the design and optimization process.
After dispelling common perforating myths about the importance of API certified penetration (measured in concrete at surface) and the universal ability of underbalanced perforating and acid to ensure clean tunnels, an introduction was given to ReActive ® Perforating and the benefits it can bring to new well performance, re-perforation, and hydraulic fracture stimulation. The paper concluded with an analogy between constructing a beautiful building and forgetting the doors and drilling a great well but neglecting to use an appropriate perforating system.
