GEODynamics' intellectual property portfolio includes technology from both in- house and third party sources. The company is a member of two technology consortia: the StimGun® group, which develops and markets propellant-based systems, and the EXCAPE® consortium, which develops and markets completion systems for multi-stage fracturing using casing-conveyed perforating technology. Our LINX™ system for extended interval casing-conveyed perforating is based on patented technology licensed from Shell.
CONNEX
GEODynamics flagship technology is the CONNEX® Perforating product line, the first in a new class of shaped charges embodying ReActive® perforating technology. It was launched at the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston in April 2007 and incorporates intellectual property exclusived licensed from QinetiQ. CONNEX® products deliver clean perforation tunnels irrespective of rock quality and without requiring underbalance. More than 250,000 charges have already been sold, deployed for more than 40 operators on four continents by more than 30 different service companies.
StimGun
StimGun® is a combination perforating gun and propellant system. A sleeve of oxidizer (propellant) is placed over the perforating gun and deployed into the wellbore. The detonation of the perforating gun under wellbore hydrostatic pressure ignites the oxidizer, generating large amounts of non-reactive gas at pressures as high as 20,000 psi. This breaks down the perforations and generates fractures extending several feet from the wellbore. GEODynamics is a member of the Stimgun® consortium.
Excape
The Excape® completion process is designed for multiple zone perforation and stimulation, reducing completion times from days to hours. Perforating guns are attached to the outside of the casing. Hydraulic control lines are used to fire the guns and to simultaneously closing a flapper valve to isolate already stimulated intervals. This process is repeated until all zones have been stimulated (over 20 zones have been completed in a single well). GEODynamics is a member of the Excape® consortium and exclusive manufacturer of Excape® guns.
LINX
In addition to its participation in the EXCAPE® consortium, GEODynamics holds licenses to intellectual property belonging to Marathon and Shell that forms the basis of the LINX ™ Casing Conveyed Perforating product. Casing conveyed perforating (CCP) is set to revolutionize the completion of horizontal wells by eliminating traditional rig-assisted perforating and allowing clean up flow to begin as soon as the guns are fired.
